Rigor Mortis
I tear down the highway, my engine roaring
When I see these eyes reflect in my headlight.
I downshift my motor and pull up my bike
And see a most dreadful, horrible sight.
The animal’s carcass lies in the road.
There’s blood on the pavement, a terrible stench
Its head is all busted and neck is so twisted
The stomach’s exploded and intestines wrenched.
Man’s harmony with nature cannot herein lie
By running it down and watching it die.
Leaving dead animals strewn on the road
Blowing their brains out over Nature’s abode.
